TAF

10 Years of Early-stage Investing

Angel Membership
The purpose of The Angel's Forum (TAF) is to help Members make a better return on investment than they could make if investing independently. TAF provides a structured environment in which individual Members can more effectively invest their capital and lend their business expertise to early-stage portfolio companies. The Members are supported by a professional management team that provides investment management services including backroom operations, membership services, and portfolio support.

Membership Benefits

Through their affiliation with TAF, the Members benefit from:

  • Superior deal flow
  • Broader portfolio diversification
  • Group thought about and participation in initial investment due diligence, pricing, and deal structuring
  • Group support/action about portfolio performance and corrective actions
  • Opportunities to make follow-on investments
  • Ability to purchase legal, accounting, insurance, research and other investment services on a group basis
  • Diverse expertise and experience of other Members

Educational Program

TAF offers educational services to its Members and their entrepreneurs. Seminars are given on a range of topics including Board of Directors responsibilities, technical updates, industry trends, and various management and operational issues.  Once a year the Members participate in a "Learning Session," during which the year's investment processes are evaluated. The Members openly and honestly discuss lessons that have been learned. As appropriate, changes to our term sheet, our legal documents, and our operating guidelines are made.

Access to Venture Capital

Typically, Members already personally know several venture capitalists. Through sharing of contacts and a regular set of scheduled meetings, Members expand their network of venture capitalists.  Knowing venture capitalists on a personal level helps Members make the critical personal introductions for the portfolio companies to future funding sources. Since all venture capitalists are not alike, the Members of TAF have learned to select their co-investors carefully.

Time Commitment

Because the group meets weekly, membership requires a significant time commitment. Members are expected to participate actively in the identification and selection of potential investments, be available to the management of portfolio companies, and assist fellow Members when critical situations occur. In addition, Members are expected to participate in internal committees, as well as attend the annual retreat.

If you are willing to put in the time, effort and money that being a member of TAF requires, please email our Managing Member, Carol Sands with more information about yourself so a date for an interview can be set up in the future.
